Ballygally Castle is the proud home of Game of Thrones Door of Thrones No 9 and our Game of Thrones themed afternoon tea is a real delight for fans. Enjoy a Game of Thrones inspired afternoon tea for two at the enchanting Ballygally Castle with themed sandwiches, savouries, pastries, cakes & scones, complemented by the finest teas & coffees.
The Ballygally Castle is the perfect base from which to explore the locations where many pivotal scenes were shot for Game of Thrones. The producers used locations across Northern Ireland, but the spectacular Causeway Coast makes more than its fair share of appearances in the series. Only a few miles from Ballygally Castle are Cairncastle, Cushendun Caves, Slemish Mountain and the village of Glenarm all of which have close connections to the iconic show.
HBO’s award-winning television series Game Of Thrones was filmed in the areas surrounding Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, with cast and crew from the series frequently found relaxing at the hotel.
Around County Down you can visit arguably the most iconic scene locations. Walk where the White Walkers first appeared (and also where the Starks discovered the direwolves), visit Team Stark’s home at Winterfell, go to Rob Stark’s battle camp, step foot where the ‘Red Wedding’ unfolded and pay your respects to the Tullys when arriving at Riverrun.
When retracing the steps of your Game of Thrones heroes stay at Slieve Donard Resort and Spa. This lovingly maintained Victorian hotel is home to one of Europe’s finest resort Spas and nestles at the foot of the Mountains of Mourne, with key filming locations never too far away including Tollymore Forest Park (Wilding Pit and Direwolves) and Castle Ward (Winterfell).
The Percy French Restaurant in the grounds of the magnificent Slieve Donard Resort and Spa where the Mountains of Mourne sweep into the sea and is the proud home of Game of Thrones Door of Thrones No 3.
Following the fall of several trees from the iconic Dark Hedges during Storm Gertrude at the start of 2016, Tourism Ireland have salvaged the wood from 2 of these magnificent Beech trees and transformed them into 10 ornately carved wooden doors, each depicting moments inspired by this season. The doors were unveiled each week as season six unfolded – referencing key scenes and events from the latest episode and incorporating some of the iconic symbols of the show.
The intricately carved Door of Thrones 3 depicts the demise of Rickon Stark’s Direwolf, Shaggydog, the 3 eyed raven and the rise of House Greyjoy’s family crest – the Kracken.
A sight to behold, this magnificent door is the entrance to our Percy French Restaurant. When coming to visit, why not sample our new Game of Thrones Westeros Tomahawk Steak Dish served with Valyrian Steel Style Carving Knife?
Situated minutes from Tollymore Forest which is the setting for the Haunted Forest and also where the Starks found their Direwolves in season 1, the Percy French is sure to be an excellent starting point for any Game of Thrones fan who wishes to follow in the footsteps of their favourite characters.
